Attract A Swarm Of Clients With These 3 Simple Headline Secrets Today
The vast majority of advertising is boring, cliché, or just plain wrong.
Headlines are the biggest factor in determining whether or not your marketing succeeds. David Ogilvy, the marketing genius himself even said,
“On the average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy.”
In the next six minutes, I’m going to show you how to capture the attention of prospects, generate more leads, and finally get your advertising to do what it’s supposed to do: attract new clients.
Let’s dive into the three secrets to transforming your headlines from just a few views into a tsunami of leads.
Secret 1 - Make It So Simple Even A Child Could Understand
Whether it’s from business school or YouTube marketers, we’re often taught to use big words and complicated lingo. However, this approach simply doesn’t work when it comes to headlines.
Imagine this, you’re a customer and you see this monstrosity of a headline:
“An Established Methodology for Enhancing the Readability and Engaging Quality of Your Written Content and Interpersonal Communications”
You’d lose interest immediately because nobody wants to read that.
Now, picture someone saying that in a bar. You’d think they’re nuts, right?
No one enjoys reading complicated stuff. The best communicators keep it simple. Take this example:
“How to Dramatically Improve Your Writing with One Easy Trick.”
This is infinitely easier to read and doesn’t make you lose your mind!
Remember this quote from the OG of advertising:
“When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar.” — David Ogilvy
The last thing you want is to confuse the reader. A confused customer does the worst thing: nothing!
How can we solve this without scaring away our clients?
Use simple language that’s clear and straight to the point. If you can’t read your headline easily, then change it.
A good test for this is to read it out loud and make sure it sounds human. Too many businesses write headlines that sound like aliens just downloaded our language.
Pretend you’re talking to someone in a bar. Your headline should flow and sound natural when read aloud.
Write as you speak.
Secret 2 - Use Specific Numbers To Generate an Avalanche of Leads
The main problem with most headlines, and even marketing in general, is it’s boringggggggggggggg.
Modern marketing is often vague and lacklustre.
If you’re going to create a headline, aim to be interesting!
Rule number one in marketing: Do not bore your audience at any cost.
If your goal is to attract attention, get people to read your ad, and generate leads, then this is the last thing you want to do.
Being vague or confusing creates questions and doubts in the reader’s mind, such as “Is this for me?”
Effective marketing eliminates any need for questioning and has the reader saying “yes” faster than Usain Bolt himself!
When people first see your marketing, they’re not ready to commit. They’re just browsing their feed, seeing if anything catches their eye.
It’s up to you to use your headlines to sell them on the idea of sticking around to read more.
“Yes, don’t be boring—but how exactly?”
Professionals capture their audience by being specific, using numbers and words that attract attention and eliminate confusion.
Lame example:
“Why Focusing on the Positive Makes Your Advertising Perform Better”
Professional example:
“Boost Your Ad Performance by 47% by Focusing on Positivity to Attract Leads”
By using specific numbers and showing how your ads will perform better, you avoid boring, vague headlines that lose attention.
Studies show these are the best numbers to use in headlines for engagement:

Secret 3 - The 4 U’s To Unlock Headline Superpowers
Have you ever looked at a product or service and thought, “What’s in it for me?”
Effective headlines tell you either what you’re selling or what it can do for the customer.
Even if you write the world’s greatest article, a mediocre headline won’t get it read.
As a marketer, I see the same headlines used over and over. It’s dull and repetitive.
Don’t let that be you.
